Flooding up and down the Big Sioux River valley has been significant. The flood is the result of the late season snow storm that dumped as much as 18” to 20” of snow over the northern end of the Big Sioux River system. The river had come up and gone down three times previous to the most recent rise. This photo was taken from the air when Jim and Susan Jepsen flew over the area last week during the peak of the high water. The photo is looking west from the Flandreau Golf Course with hole number five the most visible. The ball diamonds are the most distinguishable landmarks in the Flandreau Park, the city of Flandreau is in the background. As can be seen, water has crept onto the Flandreau Cardinal Diamond and the softball field is completely immersed.
