Staff at Flandreau High School are celebrating the 12 Days of Christmas, a themed event that started Dec. 7 and continues until the day before school is dismissed for the holidays.

On the “first day of Christmas”, which was Thursday, staff dressed for the theme, “Top it Off,” many by wearing something on their heads that is found on the top of a Christmas tree. On the second day of Christmas, they were Scrabble pieces and played human Scrabble, joining together to make more than 100 words in the lobby before classes started.

“The kids had fun watching it,” said Principal Nichole Herzog, who came up with the activities. “So far, they’ve had a lot of fun.”

The games help relieve stress at a difficult time of year for teachers and students who are working toward the end of the semester, she said. She likes the school spirit that kids witness. “It helps build that culture.”
