VOLGA – The Flier boys’ basketball team played in the Volga Roundball Classic on Saturday facing a team from Lakota Tech. The Fliers took the win 58-47.
Luke Sheppard and Paul Parsley led the Flier offense with 21 and 16 points respectively. Kody Kneebone and Micah Otto both added eight counters.
On defense, Parsley made six steals. Lakota Tech had 20 turnovers to the Fliers’ 12.
Parsley also had five rebounds while Sheppard made seven and Alfie Henderson had six.

Julian Tonche led Lakota Tech with 20 points and Treyton Sam had 13.
“We jumped out to a lead early and led by 11 at halftime,” said Coach Brendan Sheppard.
“We probably had chances to blow the game open, but missed some shots or had untimely turnovers. Credit to the Fliers for making some big defensive plays at the end of the game.”
Flandreau led 14-5 after one, 30-19 at the half and 37-34 after three quarters.
The Fliers responded to the close score with 21 fourth quarter points to Lakota Tech’s 13.
“Credit to the Fliers for making some big defensive plays at the end of the game,” added Sheppard.
This week the Fliers host Madison on Friday and then are part of the Flandreau Athletic Hall of Fame games on Saturday facing a respectable 6-1 Clark/Willow Lake team.
