After the death of long-time Flandreau educator and track and field coach, Eldon “Gus” Barnes, quite a few monetary memorials were donated to the Flandreau Flier Booster Club, an organization that Barnes respected. The club recently purchased this set of dumbbells and the rack for the weight room using these funds. Above them, a plaque has been placed honoring Barnes. Out on the track and field where Barnes coached for several years and is now dedicated to him and another long time coach, John Evans, the pole vault area is in need of updating. This item is on the Flandreau School’s Board capital outlay budget and if approved, more of the memorial money will be used to aid in the purchase of runway pads.
