Varsity runners second at Clark

CLARK – Both Flandreau varsity cross country teams placed second at the Clark Invitational on Thursday, September 26.
Flandreau boys scored 19 points behind James Valley Christian’s 10 and the girls scored 17 points to host Clark/Willow Lake’s 15.
Faith Wiese won the girls medalist honors with a strong time of 19:59.87. Her teammate Kiley Westberry was fourth at 22:02.70. Josie Hamilton and Tenley LeBrun came in 12th and 13th with times of 23:35.63 and 23:53.62. Hailey Lahr came in 23rd (25:38.07).

For the boys, fourth place was earned by Brenton Westberry, 19:35.98 and sixth place was awarded to Logan Kontz with his time of 19:42.24. Nathaniel Hobbie came in 10th running the 5000 meter course in 20:15.73, Wyatt Kontz was 11st, 20:18.17 and Franklin Donis Castillo was 12th with a time of 20:18.59. Kenton James (16th, 20:32.91) and Teague Bergjord (17th, 20:36.23) rounded out the top 20 Flier runners.
JV girls team took first place scoring 15 points in the 3000 meter race. Flandreau runners Trisha Roy (12:23.15), Rona Streitz (12:45.10) and Isabel Kulm (12:46.64) came into the chute in the fourth through sixth positions. Kaylina Ormsetth was 12th in a time of 13:15.34 and Marina Tharrats Lopez was 16th, 13:40.56. Claire Wegner took 18th place (13.48.55).
The Madison JV boys swept the race taking eight of the top 10 placings. The Flier JV boys placed second with 23 points. Pedro Barona was the first Flier in earning 12th 10:46.14, Creighton Arnett was 16th, 10:57.67.
Tuesday, the Fliers will run in the Sioux Valley Invitational in Volga. Next week is the Lake Central Conference meet on Monday and the Big East Conference on Thursday .
