Upcoming County Museum fundraiser a historical fashion show

If you’ve spent any time at all browsing the displays at the Moody County Museum, you know that there are a number of interesting and historical clothing items throughout the space.
Each of those items has a story.
To learn about the residents who may have worn them and their place in our county’s history, there is a new event, a historical fashion show coming up that is designed to raise the profile of the museum and raise funds for ongoing operations expenses.

The apparel that will be featured is from the 1920’s through the 1970’s. Board President Roxee Johnson told the Moody County Enterprise that some of the clothing is so small, if you can imagine, that area youth are being included in the Style Show because they are the only ones small enough to wear them.
“We have been thinking about a Style Show for a while and showcasing the clothing that has been donated and accessioned into the museum. We have beautiful clothing that we want to show off!” said Johnson.
“The Museum is very excited about this event and we hope to do it again next year.”
Not all of the clothing will be historical, but rather a historical perspective will be given on the items, such as Native American ribbon skirts. A History of the Ribbon Skirt will be given during the show along with Filipino fashion, given the large Filipino population in Moody County.
The Moody County Museum Spring Fashion Show is Saturday, April 20th at 7:00pm at the Crystal Theatre. It will feature clothing throughout the decades and clothes that showcase some of the different cultures locally. Models of all ages are taking part in the show.
