Top Cubs; lose to Flyers

The Hawks girls’ basketball team trounced Alcester-Hudson on Monday, December 30 to close out the year 2024, but got nipped by Freeman at home to start the new year, 2025.
The Hawks are now 7-2 on the year and were to face Oldham-Ramona/Rutland Thursday on their home court.

ALCESTER – On Monday, the Hawks found no trouble in their 70-17 road win.
CE led 19-8 after the first quarter and then shut out the Cubs in the second quarter, outscoring them 23-0. The Hawks had a 28-9 advantage in the second half.

Leading all scorers was Brynlee Landis with 29 counters shooting 11 of 14 for 75 percent. The Hawks hit 57 percent as a team.
Kaylee Voelker also had a big night scoring 21 points with 18 of those coming via the three-point shot.
Jolie Flatten added 10 points and Landis made six steals.

COLMAN – Freeman jumped out to a 13-8 first quarter margin and kept extending it until the fourth quarter when the Hawks dumped in 21 points, but it was not enought for the come back.

Half time score was 27 for the Flyers and 17 for the Hawks and at the end of the third, it was 43-29. Final score was 52-50.
Landis led her team with 18 points followed up by Flatten and Quinn Meyer with nine each. Flatten also had six rebounds and Voelker pulled down four boards and had five steals on defense.
Freeman was dominated by Rylee Peters with 25 points and Peyton McCune with 14.
