While absentee balloting has been underway for weeks, the Flandreau Santee Sioux will host its 2024 General Election this week.
On the ballot for the General Council, comprised of all eligible FSST community members, are two Trustee positions and the race for Vice President.
Cynthia Allen-Weddell, the incumbent Vice President, is challenged this year by Tyler Rambeau. The position is a four-year term.

Current Trustee II, Jonathan Schrader, Sr., faces a challenge from Bruce Schumacher for his Council seat.
Trustee IV is an open seat this year. Nicholas Flute and Kenneth Weston are the two candidates vying for the position.
The local FSST community has just under 300 voting members eligible to take part in the election. In-person voting is scheduled to take place this Saturday between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Eastman Hall.
Results, given there is a clear winner in each race, will be in next week’s edition.
