It’s almost time for the once every five years Egan All-School Reunion and there’s still time to register for the banquet, be in the parade, show off a classic car or sell an item on the street or compete in a kayak race.
The big event will be held June 27-28-29 in Egan and organizers invite more folks to be involved.
“We need more parade entries, I know that,” according to Bonnie Hemmer, one of the parade organizers. The Saturday 10 a.m. parade is open to Egan High School classes, individuals, businesses and organizations. Everyone loves parades, so to place an entry, call Hemmer at 605-530-2184 or Tom Ehrichs at 605-864-8678.
Also that day, a vendor fair will be held in Gazebo Park on Main Street and there is still time for more vendors to sign up.
A show and shine on Main Street will also be held just for sheer enjoyment of seeing old vehicles. No prizes will be awarded. It’s a chance for drivers to show off their cars, trucks, motorcycles, tractors or vintage vehicles. There’s still time to register for the show and shine and/or the vendor fair, contact Michelle Ten Eyck at 605-351-5731.
There will be kayak races starting at the F.C. Schroeder Memorial Bridge (on SD Highway 34) and ending at Zeth Stombaugh Park. For more information, contact Harvey Donley at 605-690-9494.
Doors will open for the Egan All-School Reunion at the Colman-Egan School in Colman. All Egan graduates, former teachers and staff are invited. Hemmer said there are more than 100 alumni signed up already. Pre-registration is required, however there will also be a limited number of meal tickets available on the day of the reunion.
But any Egan graduate should get their tickets bought ahead of time just in case.
