Spike pays a visit

Recently, as part of the curriculum at Colman-Egan School, Mrs. Abby Lee’s third graders read the story Aero and Officer Mike: Police Partners where they learned what type of work a K-9 Officer does. They were in for a surprise when Spike, Moody County’s K-9 Officer came to visit them. Spike is Deputy Tom Klein’s partner with the Moody County Sheriff’s Department. Deputy Klein showed a PowerPoint containing information and pictures about what he and Spike could do if needed. The third graders also got to see Spike in action while conducting a training exercise. There had been some narcotics placed in the classroom and the students were in awe as they watched Spike sniff them out.
The class was very appreciative of the visit from Spike, Deputy Klein, Deputy Morgan Rein, Trooper Chris Spielmann (shown on left of photo),Sheriff Wellman, and the Moody County Sheriff’s Department for allowing this to happen.
