BROOKINGS — As the growing season comes to an end, South Dakota State University Extension would like to remind garden enthusiasts there is a year-round Garden Hotline for South Dakota residents with garden, lawn or yard questions.
“Gardeners often need assistance during the growing season. SDSU Extension Garden Hotline staff can provide research-based answers all year,” said Robin Buterbaugh, SDSU Extension horticulture field specialist.
The Brookings hotline can be reached at 605-690-9447
The regional sites in Aberdeen, Pierre, Rapid City and Sioux Falls have staff on-site from March to October to help answer all your plant-related questions. During the off-season, questions submitted to the regional hotlines are monitored by staff in Brookings.
Gardeners can also submit garden and yard questions at the SDSU Extension Problems and Solutions page. An SDSU Extension expert or Master Gardener will reply, typically within 48 hours if the inquiry is made on a weekday.
For more information, contact Sydney Trio, McCrory Gardens education coordinator and SDSU Extension horticulture assistant, at 605-688-6707; or Buterbaugh at 605-782-3290.
