Sharon L. Neil, age 81

Sharon Lea Neil, 81, passed away surrounded by family on September 23, 2023 at the Alto Assisted Living Facility - Memory Care Unit in Stuart, FL. Memorial visitation will be held from 1:00PM to 2:00PM on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau, SD with burial to follow at Union Cemetery in Flandreau, SD.
She was born April 28, 1942 in Flandreau, SD, one of three daughters to Oliver and Gladys Amdahl. Oliver passed away and Gladys married John Hoisington and moved from the farm to town. Sharon graduated from Flandreau High School. After high school, she attended Johnson Beauty School in Mankato, MN.
She married the love of her life, Jerrold M. Neil in January of 1961. Jerry was actively serving in the United States Air Force at the time.
Sharon and Jerry moved to various Airforce bases/stations in the Midwest as they raised their three children. The family settled in Star Prairie, WI where they lived on Cedar Lake for 54 years.
She was a homemaker while the children were young and later went back to school at WITC in New Richmond, WI; where she earned her secretarial certificate. Sharon worked for the Hazelden Foundation as an administrative assistant and in publishing for many years. Over the years Sharon and Jerry traveled to south Florida to enjoy winters in their golden years with their children and some of their Floridian grandchildren.
Sharon was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Star Prairie, WI. She loved collecting quilts. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she genuinely loved every child she encountered.
Sharon was predeceased by her parents, Oliver and Gladys Amdahl Hoisington; mother; step-father, John Hoisington; sister, Janice Miles and step-sisters, Darlene Podritz and Joyce Davis.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jerrold Neil of Sunrise, FL; daughter, Kelly Passero of Jensen Beach, FL; daughter, Cherrie Neil Leach of Lee, FL; son, Stephen Neil of Sunny Isles Beach, FL; sister, Anita Mitzel, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; step-sister, Jackie Burggraff, rural South Dakota; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; multiple nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
