Several attend Corn Palace Relays

MITCHELL – Coach Owen Parsley took 18 Flandreau Flier athletes to Mitchell on Thursday, April 17 to participate in the Corn Palace Relays. The Fliers participated in some Class A divisions, Class AA and in Open divisions.
The boys had four place winners.
The 4x800 relay team won the Class A relay in a time of 9:10.95 to take the top Flier placing. Team member were Daniel Hobbie, Wyatt Kontz, Nathaniel Hobbie and Sam Schmidt.

Luke Sheppard placed fourth in the Class A triple jump with his effort of 37’7.5” and Xavier Bien came in fifth in the Class A discus with a toss of 111’1”. Micah Otto placed sixth in the open high jump.
Flandreau girls’ top placer was Faith Wiese in the open 1600 meter run. She took second in a time of 5:04.63.
Morgan Sheppard was fourth and Kiley Westberry was seventh in the open 400 meter dash. Their times were 1:02.41 and 1:03.41.
Westberry came in eighth in the girls open 400 meter dash. Time was 28.29.
The Flier girls closed out the night running the 4x400 relay in the Class AA division. They placed fourth with a season best time of 4:18.96 coming in behind Tea, Sioux Falls Lincoln and Sioux Falls Christian. Runners were Wiese, Westberry, Ella Hoffman and Sheppard.
