Scott J. Duncan, a devoted husband, loving father, and adoring grandfather, peacefully passed away on June 20, 2024, at the age of 65 years 11 months, surrounded by his loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, love, and many cherished memories.
Born on July 20, 1958 in Flandreau, SD to Lloyd and Alene (Othmer) Duncan. He grew up and attended school in Flandreau, graduating in the all-time great class of 1976, where he also struck gold, meeting the love of his life and future wife, Brenda (Wilts). Pursuing his love of football after high school, Scott played for Dakota Wesleyan and North Park College (Chicago, IL). While in Chicago, Scott worked for the Chicago Board of Trade, further preparing him for his future profession and the success he would achieve as a farmer. Scott returned to Flandreau, where he and Brenda were married on June 28, 1980 and settled there while joining the family business.
Scott dedicated his life to the family business (grain elevator & trucking), while also pursuing his love of farming, growing crops, and raising livestock. In his free time, he could be found spending summer weekends (and weekdays) at the lake on his pontoon or watching Gunsmoke and Bonanza reruns. He also loved traveling to the beach in Mexico and could be found in his recliner during football season, hoping for the day the Vikings would win a Super Bowl! Scott and Brenda achieved their dream of retirement and moved to the beach in Gulf Shores, Alabama, enjoying playing golf, spending time on the beach, and meeting many new friends.
Scott is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda, daughters Angela (Austin) Hobbie, Krista (Ryan) Reed, Calla (Tyler) Smith, Kendra Duncan, and grandchildren, Braylon, Tanner, Ayva, Haevyn, Adley, and Josephine. He is also survived by his siblings Tom (Carole), Ann (Tom), Jason, his mother-in-law Carol Wilts, in-laws Sharon, Pam (Bill), Randy (Judy), Steve, Peggy (Gene), nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews that will deeply miss his presence.
Scott is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Alene, sister Chris, father-in-law Lowell (Ole) Wilts and brother-in-law Stephen (PV) Dailey.
