BALTIC — A passenger who died in an April 1 crash on Interstate 29 near Baltic has been identified, along with the vehicle's driver.
Preliminary crash information indicates Bhanu M. Vejendla, the driver a 2024 Volvo, left the roadway and entered the median after losing control of the vehicle due to poor weather conditions. The vehicle rolled before coming to a final rest. There were four occupants in the vehicle and three were ejected from the vehicle, one of which, Revanth Aachanta, a 21-year-old man from Madison, received fatal injuries. The other three occupants received serious non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital. Seat belt use is under investigation.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
