Missoula Children’s Theatre returns this Friday, Saturday

Posted

A highlight of summer break for families throughout Moody County returns this week. The Missoula Children’s Theatre is back and partnering again with the Crystal Theatre on a production of “The Little Mermaid”.
The one-week rehearsal schedule has dozens of area youth learning acting, choreography, and music. It’ll all come together this Friday and Saturday with the show being performed both nights starting at 7pm.
“This is a great opportunity for the students to learn all about the theatre experience in just one week,” said Flandreau Mayor and Crystal Theatre board member Dan Sutton. “We have been partnering with Missoula Children’s Theatre for close to 20 years. Hopefully this experience will excite the students to become involved in future Crystal Theatre productions!”

Also happening this coming weekend:
The pie sale that the Crystal does each year as a fundraiser for their annual programs. The pie sale started back in 2009 and Chuck Tufty spearheaded the efforts of calling for volunteers to make pies. When Chuck passed away in 2016, the Crystal Board of Directors named the annual fundraiser in his memory.
“It is one of our most successful fundraisers,” said Sutton. “We will have over 100 pies for people to purchase from 10am to 1pm at $15.00. Also new this year is being able to purchase select pie by the slice for $5 and select gluten free pies. We have several faithful pie bakers that have been volunteering every year since 2009! It is really quite amazing!”
Two of those bakers have a special story to share to ensure a fan favorite will be available for generations to come. We will feature that story in next week’s edition of the Moody County Enterprise.
