Lexie Hein

Position: Kindergarten

Hometown: Dell Rapids; Live in Colman
Education: SDSU – Early Childhood Education
Family: Husband- Ryan
Children- Hadley 6, Beau 3 and Hayes 1
Hobbies: Boating, spending time with my family
What is it that brought you to the Colman-Egan School District?: I worked here previously as the preschool teacher. I took a few years off to spend more time with my kids but I missed being in the school setting. When the kindergarten position opened up I felt it was the perfect time to get back into teaching.
What do you most hope to offer your students this year?: I hope to give my students a love for learning and a memorable first year of school!
What is your favorite thing about teaching/education?: The lasting relationships that I build with my students and their families.
What is something interesting about you?: I taught pre-k at Colman-Egan for 5 years and continued to substitute teach at CE for the following 2 years.
Anything else you’d want to add? : I’m very anxious to get the year started to get to know all of my students!

Dawn Wirth

Position: PT Special
Education Director

Hometown: Mitchell, live in Sioux Falls
Education: I have a masters degree in k-12 administration with a bachelors in elementary education. Both from University of South Dakota.
Family: I have two adult children. My son, Kiel, and wife recently moved to Colorado Springs, CO from Augusta, GA. They have four children and keep busy running. Kiel is in the Army working in satellite communication. My daughter, Briana, and her husband live in Aurora, CO with their two girls. They both work in education within the city. I am blessed to have them all in the same state right now.
Hobbies: I cherish time with family which is never enough. Besides that, I enjoy traveling, reading, running, and scrapbooking.
What is it that brought you to the Colman-Egan School District?: I was actually interested in parttime employment in a school district so when I saw the opening I instantly thought this might be for me. After visiting the school, taking a tour, and talking to Mr. Hemmer and Mr. Johnson I was hooked. The small environment with so many caring educators makes me happy!
What do you most hope to offer your students this year?: I will offer the students of Colman-Egan a positive and encouraging educational environment. Extra support for the teachers and parents will also be on my radar.
What is your favorite thing about teaching/education?: I enjoy working with people and solving problems. If a child has a learning problem, I look for avenues to make learning easier and possible. If adults in the school have concerns, I know we can make that better. My role is to understand the needs and look for solutions. I am a good listener.
What is something interesting about you?: I am a runner and have a goal of running all 50 states. I run half marathons nothing like those crazy full marathoners. I have done 48 states so far with Hawaii and Louisiana left. I recently called it my addiction and that seems correct.
Anything else you’d want to add? : In Sioux Falls I am a volunteer with the American Red Cross and the Washington Pavilion. If you go to any shows at the Pavilion you may see me in my purple usher bowtie.
