As the Flier wrestling regular season wound down, the Flier matmen were active in two quads last week and will now prepare for Regions and the chance to attend the State A meet in Sioux Falls.
The Region 1A meet will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17 in the Tea Area High School gym.
BERESFORD – AT 190 pounds, Karter Headrick was the lone Flier winner in all three of his matches although he only wrestled in one. He defeated Taten Twedt of Beresford/Alcester-Hudson by fall, 4:30 and won two forfeits over Mt. Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney and Marion/Freeman.
The Fliers forfeited in several weight divisions and lost all three duals. Scores were MVPCS, 57-18, BAH 54-21 and MF 31-30.
Four Flandreau wrestlers were 2-1 on the night. Teague Bergjord won 7-0 over Bennett Farley of BAH in the 113 pound class and also pinned Ethan Reimntiz of MVPCS in 3:07.
At 138, Brayden Wiese pinned Kasen Voss of BAH in 3:43 and at 132, pinned Keaton Preheim of MF in 33 seconds.
TRI-VALLEY – At the Tri-Valley quad, the Fliers met up with the hosts along with Garretson and Kingsbury County.
Due to illness and injury, the Fliers were down a couple of wrestlers on the night.
Bergjord, Wiese and Headrick all record 3-0 records on the night. Bergjord and Wiese marked up all three wins by fall.
At 113, Bergjord defeated Payton Barrick of RV by fall, 1:46, Caden Singrey of KC in 3:49 and Lucas Ludwig of Garretson in 56 seconds.
