RAPID CITY, SD—Marie “Louise” Foreman, 98, of Rapid City, SD, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Monument Health Home Health and Hospice House in Rapid City, SD.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Palmer-Santin Funeral Home in Fullerton, NE, with Pastor Herb Wounded Head officiating. Burial will follow at Fullerton Cemetery. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Palmer-Santin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Louise was born May 17, 1926, to Percival and Emma (Anderson) Travers at their home in Nance County, Nebraska. She graduated from Fullerton High School in May 1944. On October 26, 1944, Louise married Harlan Donald Foreman in Mankato, Kansas. Raised in rural Nance County, Louise and Harlan moved to South Dakota in 1948, where they lived in Mitchell, Pierre, Aberdeen, Sioux Falls, Huron, Flandreau, and Madison. Together, they raised four children, and in 2000, they celebrated 56 years of marriage. Harlan passed away on March 24, 2001.
A devoted homemaker, Louise also made many other meaningful contributions to her community in various roles. She worked as a teacher’s aide in Flandreau and Madison, SD, and as a cook at a Madison nursing home. Louise was lovingly regarded as “Grandma Louise” by many, extending her love and support to countless others beyond her own grandchildren. She loved to travel, play bridge, and spend time with family. She never missed a chance to brag about how old she was.
She is survived by her daughter, Deb (Jon) Zebill, and son, Jim Foreman, both of Rapid City, SD; daughter-in-law, Cindy Foreman of Texas; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband; son, Don Foreman; her parents; daughter and son-in-law, Carol Ann and Tom Kippes; both sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Lee Nelson and Grace and Richard Whited; and two great-grandsons.
