Judith Ann (Hove) Oslun of Fredonia, WI, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Forest Haven Assisted Living Facility in Fredonia, WI. She was 88 years old.
Judy was born Oct 4, 1936, in Flandreau S.D., daughter of Leonard and Bernice (nee Halvorson) Hove. She attended Juve country school and graduated from Flandreau High School with the class of 1954. After high school, Judy received a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD, in 1958.
Judy started her nursing journey at Fort Ord Army Hospital in California and then the Long Beach VA Hospital. She finished up her time working in California at Carmel Community Hospital, where she met her husband, William Oslun while he was stationed there with the United States Navy. She married William on July 14,1962, in Flandreau, South Dakota.
Judy began her journey as a Navy wife and met many other Navy wives who became close friends. Judy found her love for bowling, which she was a “high roller bowler”, and even had a special pin. She continued nursing as a Red Cross volunteer, but decided to no longer work full-time, as she became focused on raising her three children.
Judy was a very proud Norwegian and will be best known for her love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Judy was also a tomboy at heart. Growing up, she could often be seen playing in silos with hanging sickles with her friend Eldon. The two were inseparable! She had no fear! That’s what kept her alive. That farm girl spirit carried her through to the end.
She is survived by her two children Mike (Susan) Oslun and Charlotte (Eric) Poggemann, her five grandchildren: Carol (Tyler) Hill, Andrew (Brandi) Poggemann, Nicholas (Samantha) Poggemann, Christopher Oslun, and Tyler Oslun. She is further survived by her late brother David’s wife Connie Hove, and their children Danelle Hove-Schultz and Denita Hove-Dinger, and her beloved companion, “Buddy,” a feisty Pomeranian.
She was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Bernice Hove, husband William Oslun, son David Oslun, and her brother David Hove.
Funeral services for Judy will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington. Visitation will take place from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM with a funeral service following at 2:00 PM.
She will be laid to rest in Flandreau, SD.
