Jim Bauer, 62, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, in Flandreau, SD. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at GracePoint Wesleyan Church in Brookings, SD. A Visitation will be held the night prior from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at GracePoint Wesleyan Church in Brookings.

James John Bauer, the son of Roger and Darlene (Otto) Bauer, was born on August 6, 1962. He attended Elkton Public School for both his primary and high school education. Jim’s upbringing in Elkton grounded him and remained a cornerstone throughout his life. He dedicated much of his life to the community through various roles, reflecting his hardworking and committed nature. Jim was kind and there for you know that no matter what, he was always willing to lend a helping hand. On May 12, 1990, he married the love of his life, Tammie VanHolland. To this union, two children were born; Trevor and Ashley.

Jim’s career spanned several decades and industries. During high school, he drove a cement truck for Larry McLaughlin, then worked for Kramers in Elkton. In 1984, he began farming and milking cows with his brother Tim, a venture they continued until 1993. Jim then joined Dale’s Alignment, where he worked until 2022, before taking a position with Elm Customs, working alongside Cliff Tandeski, Cody and Leanne Amdahl.

Jim was a man who cherished the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed numerous outdoor activities, especially working on projects and tending to cattle. Above all, spending time with his children and grandchildren brought him the most joy.

Jim is survived by his wife, Tammie Bauer; children, Trevor (Kassidy) Bauer and Ashley (Cody) Clark; grandchildren, Maci, Cambrie, Paisleigh, Boedyn, Braxton and Corbin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Darlene (Otto) Bauer; in-law’s, Arvin and Carol VanHolland; sisters, Peg, Kathy and Joan.

Jim’s life was marked by his dedication to family, work and the simple pleasures of life, leaving behind a legacy of love and hard work.
