It’s Homecoming Week at Colman-Egan School

Posted

It’s that time of year again to show your school spirit for the Colman-Egan Hawks homecoming week. Events have already kicked off on Monday with the crowning of royalty during the coronation ceremonies.
We’ll have the King and Queen’s photo in next week’s paper.
After the coronation the girls took to the football field for the annual powderpuff football game. They have may have spent the day dressed up as Barbies for Barbie and Ken Day, but they showed the boys how it was done on the grid iron.

Tuesday, the Volleyball team took to the net to take on the McCook Central/Montrose Cougars. Action started at 4pm with the C team. The dress up day theme for that day was Vintage Spirit Day. Later that night the boys had their turn on the court as they played the annual powderpuff volleyball game.
On Wednesday the Cross-Country team will head to Freeman. While the students will dress up with the theme of Rhyme without Reason. What is that you may be asking yourself? We had to do some google image searching ourselves. The kids will pick a dress up partner and dress up as rhyming words that have nothing else in common besides, they rhyme. Some examples could be an FBI agent and a Butterfly, a pie and a fly, man and a fan… you get the point.
The Volleyball team is up again on Thursday as they will take on Iroquois/Lake Preston at home with the junior varsity starting at 6 pm and varsity at 7 pm. Business attire will be practiced by the students that day, well kind of. The dress up day is “Zoom Business Day” meaning business attire on top and casual pajamas, shorts, or anything else comfortable that wouldn’t be seen on a video call meeting.
Kids in the Elementary School will have a different rendition of the dress up days with Monday being pajama day, Tuesday beach day, Wacky Wednesday, Thursday crazy sock day (that day is also school pictures) and Friday school spirit.
Rounding out the week of events will be the football game taking place Friday night at 7pm against the Estelline/Hendricks Redhawks. That is not before the streets of Colman will be filled with Hawk pride during the parade which kicks off at 2 pm followed by the pep rally at 2:45 pm. Everyone is encouraged that day to dress up for Spirit Day in their best Black and Gold outfit and to head out and cheer on the Hawks.
