Hawks softball earn three wins in five games

COLMAN – Colman-Egan hosted two teams on Monday, May 5 at the Field of Dreams.
The Hawks lost to Sioux Falls Christian but defeated Kingsbury County.
Sioux Falls Christian
The Hawks met up with a strong Sioux Falls Christian team and took a 19-3 loss.
Chloe Schmidt took the loss giving up all 21 of the Chargers’ hits and19 runs. She was unable to strike out any of the Sioux Falls players.
Schmidt had a double and single in the game and Kinzley Shaefer hit a double.
Kingsbury County
Kinzley Shafer was 3-for-3 including two doubles in the first inning to help lift the Hawks over Kingsbury County on Monday, May 5.
Colman-Egan won in three innings, 17-2 after starting out the game with 12 runs in the first inning.
Harper Mousel aided the offense with a triple and a single as the Hawks collected 15 team hits while Colman-Egan pitcher Chloe Schmidt held the Knights to only four. She also struck out six batter.

Also on offense, Schmidt, Maebe Groos, Savanna Schmidt and Kaitlyn Taggart all collected doubles. The Hawks had 14 stolen bases in the big win.

At Castlewood
CASTLEWOOD – The Warriors put up strong performances at the plate getting 15 hits to the Hawks’ four in a 12-1 win over Colman-Egan.
Chloe Schmidt led the team with a double and Kinley Geigel, Brianne Bowen and Kaitlyn Taggart all connected for singles.
Schmidt also took the loss on the mound allowing all 15 Warrior hits and 12 runs.

At Arlington
ARLINGTON – The Hawks went to work in two games played in Arlington competing against the hosts and Milbank.
Colman-Egan defeated Arlington in the first game, 22-12 pounding out 18 hits.
Down 9-8 to open the top half of the fourth, the Hawks blasted out 11 runs to open up the game.
Harper Mousel was 4-for-4 at the plate belting out an in the park home run, two doubles and a single.

Kinley Geigle had a triple, double and a single. Kinzley Shafer had a double. Earning three RBI each were Mousel, Savanna Schmidt and Geigle.
Chloe Schmidt earned the win in five innings. She gave up 12 hits and the 12 runs striking out eight.
Milbank
The fifth game found the Hawks having no trouble with a team from Milbank, clobbering the Bulldogs, 24-5.
It was a big multiple hit performance by the Hawks garnering 23 hits in only three innings of work.
They scored 13 in the first inning alone, added six in the second closed out with a five run third inning.
Harper Mousel was the winning pitcher. She walked eight and struck out six and only gave up two hits and the five scores.
All nine Colman-Egan players had at least one hit with most having three.
Doubles were hit by Taggart, Kinley Geigle, Maebe Groos, Chloe Schmidt and Mousel.
