Hawks get first win on the diamond

Colman-Egan dropped a pair of softball games to Chester and Hanson but rebounded to win over Chamberlain.
Chester
COLMAN – The Hawks hosted the Flyers on Tuesday and gave up 15 runs on 16 hits in the 15-3 loss to Chester.
Kaitlyn Taggart was 3-for-4 with a double and a pair of singles. Chloe Schmidt also doubled. The team totaled 16 hits matching the same as the Flyers.
Schmidt took the loss on the mound allowing all Chester hits and runs.

ELKTON – The Hawks played the Hanson Beavers and the Chamberlain Cubs in games played at Elkton on Thursday.
Hanson

Hanson jumped out to a 6-1 lead after two innings and the Hawks couldn’t catch up in a 23-4 loss.
In the third inning, the Beavers scored eight runs on six hits. They extended it in the fourth and fifth innings adding four and five runs respectively.
Colman-Egan’s scoring came in the bottom of the second with a run and also scored three in the bottom half of the fourth.
Kaitlyn Taggart was 3-for-3 at the plate. Addison Geigle and Chloe Schmidt both had two hits.
Hanson outhit the Hawks, 18-10.
Schmidt was the losing pitcher giving up all the hits and runs.
Chamberlain
Chamberlain was the next opponent and the Hawks got the bats going against the Cubs gathering 17 team hits in the three inning game.
The Hawks earned their first win of the season,18-3.
The Cubs opened the game with two first inning runs, but Colman-Egan answered with six of their own and then added nine in the second inning. Three more runs came in the final inning.
Kinzley Shafer and Maebe Groos both batted 3-for-4 in the win with Groos earning a double. Chloe Schmidt was 3-for-3.
Shaefer, Groos, Brianne Bowen and Addison Geigle all had two RBI.
Harper Mousel got the win from the mound allowing six hits and three runs.
Monday, the Hawks were to be at Gayville-Volin and then Friday, they’ll have a cross county game with Flandreau.
