COLMAN – It wasn’t successful for the two home county teams participating in the 27th Entringer Girls Basketball Scholarship Classic on Saturday.
Flandreau took a 14 point loss, 49-35, to the hands of Dell Rapids St. Mary and Colman-Egan faced Class A third rated Hamlin and suffered a 59-43 loss.

Hamlin 59, Colman-Egan 43
The Hawks were only down by eight after a quarter of play, 19-11, but then hit only three points in the second quarter to give the Chargers a 37-13 led at the half.
Colman-Egan outscored the Chargers in the next two quarters (29-22) but could not catch up for the win.

Hawk junior Brynlee Landis connected on 13 points and led the team with three rebounds. The Hawk only brought down 14 boards.
Kaylee Voelker followed her in scoring with eight counters.
The Hawks, 4-1, will be in the Huron Classic on Saturday and then travel to Alcester to face Alcester-Hudson on Monday.

DRSM 49, Flandreau 35
The Fliers dropped a non-conference game to the Dell Rapids St. Mary Cardinals.
DRSM jumped out to an early lead, 20-5, after one quarter but the Fliers got back in the game with 17 second quarter points. The Cardinals led at halftime, 30-22. In the second half the Fliers were outscored 19-13 and took the loss.

“We are an inexperienced team, so while there is some disappointment in losing at the Entringer (Classic) and heading into Christmas break .500, we accept that there will be some growing pains,” said Head Coach Megan Severtson.
Morgan Sheppard hit for 18 points and made five rebounds and her sister Rehgan scored seven. Sadie Iott made six and Madison Bushkofsky added four points.
