Girls sweep Alpha IV

The Flandreau Fliers volleyball team opened the season with a loss to Madison but bounced back and won their Alpha IV Invitational on Saturday.

MADISON – The Fliers competed hard on Thursday night as they lost by scores of 25-22, 25-20 and 25-18.
The seniors led the effort.

Claire Sheppard led Flandreau with seven kills and two blocks. Abby Schoeberl had 15 assists and three aces. Lizzie Pavlis had five kills and two blocks. Lily Klein added five kills.
Addy Hammer, Hayden Neises, and Klein all had 8 digs.
The Bulldogs were led by Audrey Nelson who had 15 kills. Karley Theede had 28 assists and Callie McDermott had 12 digs. Keara Wagner had eight digs.

FLANDREAU – On Saturday, both the JV and Varsity played in the Alpha 4 Tourney, hosted in Flandreau.
Clark/Willow Lake and ORR brought JV and varsity teams, and James Valley Christian brought only varsity. Flandreau Varsity went 3-0 for the day, and Flandreau JV beat ORR but lost to Clark/Willow Lake.
“This week will bring three new matches for the teams. Our rescheduled home game against Chester was held Monday. Tuesday, we traveled to Florence-Henry, and Thursday we host Hamlin,” said Head Coach Julia Fargen.
