Colman-Egan at Howard Wood
SIOUX FALLS – The 100th running of the Howard Wood Dakota Relays was one for the books. Several personal records, school records and meet records were marked in the book as athletes competed in ideal conditions – sunny temps in upper 60s, no gale force winds and top-notch competition.
Colman-Egan shined on the track both in boys and girls relays bringing home five Class B gold medal performances with one of them a Dakota Relays meet record.
The girls 4x200 meter relay team had a great day setting a new Howard Wood Meet record with a time of 1:46.65. Crystal Silva-Dominguez, Finley Luze, Brynlee Landis and Jolie Flatten flew to the gold and the podium. Their winning time is also the top in the Class B performance list.
The Luze sisters swapped for the 4x400 meter relay event and the team had the winning time at 4:08.24. Members were Presley Luze, Silva-Dominguez, Landis and Flatten.
The girls team had two other place winners.
The sprint medley team of Avery Baumberger, Finley Luze, Silva-Dominguez and Landis took second marking a time of 4:22.25.
Colman-Egan’s girls 4x800 meter relay team of Presley Luze, Anya Hemmer, Finley Luze and Brynlee Landis took eighth recording a time of 10:29.62
Not to be outdone, the Hawk boys won the 4x100, 4x200 and medley relays running in some very good races and setting two school records.
The foursome of Jase Mousel, Mikano Lee, Jackson Zwart and Jack Mousel ran to the HW winning time of 1:31.8 to win the Class B 4x200 relay. The time was just shy of one they ran a couple of weeks ago which put them on top of the boys Class B performance list.
Zwart and the Mousel brothers teamed with Sutton Bunde to win the Class B Medley relay timed at 3:38.01 with Bunde running a very strong 800 to lead the team.
The speedy Colman-Egan 4x100 team keeps lowering their time with each race. Saturday, Hayden Pearson, Zwart and the Mousels ran a 43:73 to win that race.
Flandreau at Howard Wood
SIOUX FALLS – The Flandreau track and field participants at the 100th annual running of the Howard Wood Dakota Relay took advantage of the beautiful weather and the big stage.
Most notable performance was the girls medley team winning their event in meet record time and erasing their own school record.
Coach Parsley had a pre-race pep talk with his four Class A medley relay girls.
“I told them,” he said, “they needed to own this race. To be afraid of nobody and to run to win.”
