The Flandreau Flier girls hit the road four times last week including a double header game with the boys team and playing in the DWU/Culver’s Classic at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.
Flandreau 71,
Garretson 32
GARRETSON – The Flier girls used 73 per cent field goal shooting for a convincing 71-32 win over the Garretson Blue Dragons on Monday, Feb. 5.
The Fliers led by double digits at all quarter stops, 20-6, 35-14, 55-26 and the final 71-32.
Leading all scorers was Lily Klein with 19 points. Claire Sheppard added in 16 points, six rebounds and generously gave out eight assists.
Also in the double digit scoring was Lizzie Pavlis with 12 points and five assists and she also made four steals. Closing it out was Sadie Iott’s 11 points and four assists.
Flandreau 65, Lyman County 46
MITCHELL – The Flandreau Flier girls basketballs remained undefeated picking up a 65-46 win over Lyman at the Corn Palace on Friday night in the DWU/Culver’s Classic, a classic in which top teams from the state play. Lyman was rated fifth in Class B from the Feb. 5 polls.
The Fliers took a 19-13 lead at the end of the first quarter and extended the lead to 35-26 at halftime. Flandreau was up 50-35 at the end of the third quarter and out-scored Lyman 15-11 in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
Once again, they used four players in double digits scoring (nearly five players) in the balanced attack. Claire Sheppard had 18 points, four rebounds, four blocks, three assists and two steals in the win and was named the MVP of the game. Her teammate Sadie Iott had 13 points, five rebounds and two assists.
