Fliers place at two conference meets

The Flandreau boys golf team took second place at the Big East Conference and fourth in the Lake Central Conference golf tournaments held May 5 and May 9.

LCC Meet
LAKE POINSETT – Alfie Henderson was the top Flier golfer finishing five over par with a 77 to earn third place at the Lake Central Conference Golf Meet.
Sioux Valley won the team title with a 229 and Clark/Willow Lake had a 232. Hamlin was third with a 241 and the Fliers ended in fourth with a 255.

Medalist was Cossack Tate Steffensen firing a 65, seven under par. Kaden Wookey of C/WL was second shooting a 74.
Jon Burshiem turned in an 84 coming in 15th. Just out of the top 20 was Hunter Bushkofsky who shot a 94.

BEC Meet
VOLGA – Friday, Henderson tied for third and came home with the fourth place medal at the Big East meet. He shot a 37 on the front nine and 40 on the back finishing the day at 77, five over par.

Tate Steffenson of Sioux Valley won medalist honors shooting a two under par 70 on his home course, Meadow Creek Golf Course.
Another Cossack took second, Damon Uecker, with a 76 and Carter Vogel of Chester shot a 77.
The Fliers’ Jon Burshiem turned in scorecards of 45 and 38 to finish 10th and Hunter Bushkofsky placed 18th with his scores of 45 and 44.
There were 31 BEC varsity golfers at the meet. The Fliers do not field a varsity girls team. Jadyn McDonald of Chester was the medalist and Beresford won the team championship.
