Flandreau Boys tie for 7th in State Class B

WATERTOWN– Flandreau’s Alfie Henderson golfed his way to an eighth place tie and the boys team tied for seventh at the SDHSAA Class B Boys meet held June 2-3 at Cattail Crossing in Watertown.
Hanson was the team title with a 27 over par 459, narrowly getting by Wall’s 460.
The Fliers combined for 488, 56 strokes over par.
Henderson found himself in the title spot after day one shooting one under par, 71, on the warm day. Tuesday’s weather was a bit cooler and Henderson finished with an 81 to earn a 152, 8 over par.
His teammate Hunter Bushkofsky shot rounds of 79 and 88 earning a tie for 53rd place with his 167. Senior Jon Burshiem also ended in a tie – for 63rd. He fired rounds of 81 and 88 for his 169.

The Colman-Egan boys had two golfers at the state meet. Taylor Kriech finished in a tie for 15th with a 156. First day score was 81 and he improved that by six strokes the second day to a 75.
Also, for CE, Jack Whitehouse finished with a 175.
The Flandreau Indian School sent Kaden Burshiem to the state meet and he also tied at 53rd. His rounds were 83 and 84 for a 167 game.
The boys’ medalist was Trevor Schulz of Wall shooting one over par at 145.
The Hawk girls fielded a team for the first time in many years and golfed at Prairie Winds Golf Course, also in Watertown.
Savanna Schmidt closed out her senior year in a tie for 43rd place shooting a 201. Mauryn Landis fired a 206 and Aspen Clark rounded out the team with a 223.
The girls finished in 11th place as a team with a score of 630. Dell Rapids St. Mary won the team title firing a 501.
Brynn Roehrich of Clark/Willow Lake won the medalist honors for the girls shooting an even par of 72 both days.
