Cardinals earn Corn Belt win over Gamecocks

HUMBOLDT – The Flandreau Cardinals outhit the Humboldt/Hartford Gamecocks 10 to 5 and picked up their fourth win of the season in a 7-2 victory.
Flandreau’s hits were all singles batted out by Keith Cutler, Jacob Patterson, Bret Severtson, Austin King, Curt Anderson (2), JaColby Anderson (2), and Luke Gassman (2)
Gassman and J Anderson both had two runs batted in.
Flandreau scored one in the first, four in the fourth and added two more in the fifth inning.

Drew Weber pitched the Cardinal win throwing seven innings. He gave up three hits, two runs, walked two and struck out four in the 29 batters faced. Severtson closed out the final two innings allowing two hits while striking out three.
The Cardinals now have a season record of 4-5.

Record above .500 with win over Cubs

FLANDREAU– The Blue Teal picked up another home win on Sunday defeating the Salem Cubs, 10-2 at home.
Flandreau scored early putting three runs on the board in the first and four in the second inning. They added three insurance runs in the bottom half of the seventh. Salem only had two hits – both by catcher VonBerge – for their two runs which came in the sixth and eighth inning.

The Teal used eight innings on the mound from Emmott Nathan who struck out seven, walked six and gave up the two runs off the two Cub hits. He earned the win. Mason Riley threw the final inning facing five batters, striking out two and walking one.
Flandreau was led in offense by a pair of doubles coming from Micah Otto and Michael Witte each. Witte, hitting 3-for-4, also hit a single and Tash Lunday, Nathan and Kolby Peters each singled twice.
The Teal only struck out five times in their 38 at bats and now have a season record of 5-4.
