FHS One-Act Play advances to State Festival

The Flandreau High School One-Act play cast and crew earned the right to perform at the State Festival following the Region 3A contest held Tuesday, Jan. 28 in Madison. They will perform at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 8 at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center on the campus of South Dakota State University in Brookings.
The play is The Headless Horseman, a mini musical based on Washington Irving’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” The book is adapted by Vera Morris, with music and lyrics by Bill Francoer.

In addition, at the region contest, six performers received Outstanding Performer Awards: Ben Kulm, Abe Streitz, Justin Haugen, Abby Lewis, Jillian Knippling and Isabel Kulm.
The cast also includes Bailey Bergjord, Claire Wegner, Marina Tharrats Lopez, Hailey Lahr, Amelia Pieper, Fawn Frias, Miesha Pedraza-Felix, and Tillie Haugen. Tech support was provided by Liam Knippling, Dillyn Opsahl, and CJ Thompson.
The festival runs from February 6-8. The public is invited to attend. There is no admission fee to the event.
Flandreau will be one of 12 schools in the Class A division at the State Festival.
