FLANDREAU – The Flandreau boys’ wrestling team participated in a quadrangular with McCook Central/Montrose, Sioux Valley and Clark/Willow Lake on Tuesday night in Flandreau.
The Fliers went 0-3 as a team losing to Sioux Valley by one point.
The Cyclones are placed as ninth in Class B team ratings and the Fighting Cougars are rated 15th.
A highlight for Flier Justin Klein was picking up his 100th career win by pinning Wyatt Hardt during the final dual of the evening.
He along with Zach Pederson, and Karter Headrick recorded 3 wins on the evening.
Sioux Valley 42, Flandreau 41
Teague Bergjord pinned Rennick Wagner in 29 seconds at 120. Emisael Bonilla and Zach Pederson each picked up wins with forfeits at 126 and 132, respectively.
McCook Central/Montrose 48, Flandreau 26
The Fliers won five out of the ten match ups. Zach Pederson pinned Channing Bartlett in 3:56. Hayden Pearson won a 15-0 technical fall over Gavin Bowen at 165 and Preston Meyer won via forfeit at 175. Justin Klein then won a 5-2 decision over Tucker Peterson at 190 and Karter Headrick pinned Jacob Johnson in 32 seconds at 285.
Clark/Willow Lake 52, Flandreau 21
The Fliers picked up four wins against the Cyclones. Zach Pederson won a 14-0 major decision over Kooper Wookey at 126. Gabriel Frias pinned Mason Severson at 5:44 at 132 and Justin Klein pinned Lincoln Reidburn in 5:44 at 175. At 215, Karter Headrick defeated Riley Popp in a 16-1 technical fall.
