Erase 48 and 1-year old records

Posted

The last time a 4x200 meter relay Flandreau School record was broken/set, Jimmy Carter was president, the original Star Wars was released and Elvis was still alive - 1977. The record was set by Marcie Lokken, Nancy Ramsdell, Jody Entringer and Teresa Erickson, four of the speedsters on the Flier track team during this era. Their time was 1:47.5. Thursday, these ladies above, in the first time they’ve ran this race as a foursome, broke that 48-year old record putting the new mark at 1:47.14; not much time difference but, a new record none-the-less. Teammates are Kiley Westberry, Ella Hoffman, Rhegan Sheppard and Morgan Sheppard.

These girls in the second photo, broke the school’s 4x400 meter relay record which was set last year in the final race at the State Class A track meet. Members are Faith Wiese, Kiley Westberry, Rona Streitz and Morgan Sheppard. Their new time is 4:04.48 clipping the old record of 4:05.76.
And the one who keeps lowering her own record, Wiese, dropped her mile time below the 5 minute mark with a new school record of 4:56.40.
They’ll all run at the State meet this weekend along with other teammates.
