Four area basketball teams played on Monday night. The Elkton-Lake Benton girls picked up a victory and the Colman-Egan boys beat Iroquois/ Lake Preston as well. Estelline/Hendricks fell on the boys’ side.

Elkton-Lake Benton girls, Colman-Egan boys pick up victories

Four area basketball teams played on Monday night. The Elkton-Lake Benton girls picked up a victory and the Colman-Egan boys beat Iroquois/ Lake Preston as well. Estelline/Hendricks fell on the boys’ side.

Girls

Elkton-Lake Benton 54, Hills Beaver Creek (MN) 48
HILLS, Minn. — The Lady Elks improved to 12-6 with the victory. They led 25-14 at halftime and then hung on for a six-point victory.

Tevan Erickson led ELB with 20 points, five rebounds and five steals. Kylie Ramlo had 16 points, five steals and four assists. Malayna Hemmen had nine points and Charlie Thooft had seven points.

Brynn Rauk had 12 points to lead HBC. Brynn Bakken had 11 points and Lanae Elbers had 10 points.

ELB plays at Deubrook Area at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Boys

Colman-Egan 71, Iroquois/Lake Preston 49
LAKE PRESTON — Jase Mousel’s 43 points led the Hawks their third-straight victory. CE led 21-14 at the end of the first quarter and extended its lead to 42-32 at halftime. The Hawks then increased the lead to 60-41 at the end of the third and were able to cruise to the victory.

Jack Mousel had 15 points for the Hawks. Josh McMasters led the Sharks with 16 points. Ryne Green had eight points, Lucas Peskey had seven points and Daunte Glanzer had six points.

CE improved to 7-10 with the win and hosts Mitchell Christian tonight at 6 p.m. ILP dropped to 3-15 on the season and plays at Sanborn Central/Woonsocket at 8 p.m. on Thursday.

Milbank 78, Estelline/Hendricks 58
MILBANK — The Redhawks dropped to 10-8 with the loss. They led 28-20 after the first quarter but were then outscored 24-4 in the second quarter and trailed 44-32 heading into the second half. Milbank extended its lead to 71-46 at the end of the third and although the Redhawks outscored the Bulldogs 12-7 in the final frame, it was too little too late.

EH shot 41.8% from the field and was 5-of-16 from three. Wyat James had 16 points and six rebounds to lead the Redhawks. Kyler Carson had 10 points.

Milbank shot 53.7% from the field and was 7-of-18 from three. Joe Schulte had a huge night for the Bulldogs with 30 points and 10 rebounds. Garrett Mertens had 21 points and Sam Rick had eight points.

Estelline/Hendricks hosts Castlewood on Friday at 7:15 p.m.
