COLMAN – The Hawks took second place in the Dakota Valley Conference Volleyball tournament on Saturday.
Elkton-Lake Benton won the tourney with a 4-0 pool play record. The Hawks settled for 3-1 losin to the Elks. Castlewood was 2-2, Deubrook Area 1-3 and Dell Rapids St Mary, 0-4.
Colman-Egan’s match scores were as follows:
Won 2-0 over Deubrook, 25-10, 25-20
Won 2-0 over DRSM, 25-14, 25-21
Won 2-1 over Castlewood, 25-16, 22-25, 25-18
Vs. Bridgewater-Emery
COLMAN — The Hawks picked up a big win, defeating Bridgewater-Emery in five sets on October 15.
B-E put the Hawks in a 2-0 hole, winning the first set 25-21 and the second set 25-22. But the Hawks began to rally with a 25-13 win in set three and a 25-18 win in set four and closed the match by winning the fifth set 15-11.
Brynlee Landis led the way with 27 kills, 15 digs and two aces for the Hawks while Elaina Rhode had 13 kills, 10 digs and three aces.
Vs. ORR
RUTLAND – The Hawks picked up the win by sweeping the Raiders by scores of 25-16, 25-18 and 25-15 on Thursday night.
Brynlee Landis had 11 kills to go with four aces and seven digs for the Hawks. Kaylee Voelker also had five aces with 13 assists, two solo blocks and an assist.
Elaina Rhode had seven kills. Presley Luze had seven digs. Anna Zwart had a solo block and two assists. Kaitlyn Taggart had a solo block. Savanna Schmidt had five digs.
