Donna Kay was born to Jennings and Berdyne (Madson) Dahl on January 11, 1956 in Flandreau. She was baptized in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. She attended Chamberlin Country School until entering Flandreau Public Schools as a fifth grader and graduated high school in 1974.
Roger Schoeberl and Donna Kay were united in marriage in 1975 and lived in Spencer Iowa. In 1976 they returned to the Dahl family farmstead, where she was devoted both to their family and farm life. She traveled for JC Penney for a short time. Donna Kay enjoyed teaching religious education when their children were participating in the classes. She worked in a variety of capacities at the Royal River Casino and Restaurant for 20 years. She was employed with Moriarty Rental Agency in Brookings, SD for 22 years, retiring in 2022.
She shared her beautiful, heart-warming smile and delightful sense of humor with their three sons, their wives and her much adored grandchildren. Donna Kay enjoyed cooking for the family, especially on holidays and at Christmas.
The love for her grandchildren and family was followed by her affection and attachment to anything with four legs. From the time she was a small child she rescued and fostered orphaned racoons, rabbits, kittens and any stray animal that she happened upon. Well-loved goats and sheep were just a few of the menagerie that inhabited the farm.
She will be deeply missed by her husband of 48 years: Roger; her three sons: Andy (Amy), of Lennox, SD, Corey (Lindsey) and Dusty (Amy), of Flandreau, SD; eight grandchildren: Gavin, Harper, Carter, Abigale, Cooper, Addison, Tanner and Garrett; three siblings: Jan (Denny) Driscoll, Spearfish, SD Jerdyne (Jeri) (Jim) Costlow, Rapid City, SD, Dan (Judy) Madison, SD and numerous sister and brother-in laws and nieces and nephews from throughout the country.
