Diversity Foundation, Toys for Tots make a special delivery

Posted

The Diversity Foundation, a nonprofit volunteer organization based in St. Cloud, MN, teamed up with the United States Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots program to deliver a generous number of gifts to Flandreau this past week.
The Diversity Foundation’s Executive Director, Lyle Rustad, and his assistant, Martin Bernard, braved wintry weather to make the special delivery late Tuesday night. Their cargo included books, games, and toys intended for local families in need.
Flandreau was just one stop on their extensive Christmas delivery route. After making their drop-off in town, Rustad and Bernard continued their mission to spread holiday cheer across the region. They visited the Yankton Sioux Tribe and Santee Sioux Tribe in Nebraska before heading north for planned deliveries to tribal nations in South Dakota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin.
Locally, the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe plans to distribute the gifts to shelters and families in need, extending their reach to neighboring communities, including Sioux Falls, Brookings, and Pipestone. Through this effort, they hope to brighten the holidays for children across the region and share the joy of Christmas.
