Cardinals split games last week

The Flandreau Cardinals were on the road for two games last week with the end result split decisions with Dell Rapids Mudcats and Canova Gang.

DELL RAPIDS – In relief, Bret Severtson earned the pitching win and his teammates backed him up with 10 hits in the 10-2 win over the Dell Rapids Mudcats.
Jacob Patterson took a Mudcat pitch over the fence and finished the day with four RBI and two runs. JaColby Anderson batted 3-for-4 and Tison Burggraff and Luke Gassman both went 2-for-4.

Severtson faced 19 batters and struck out seven, walked one and gave up a hit in five and two-thirds innings.
Drew Weber started the game throwing two and a third innings and Anderson threw the final inning giving up two hits.

CANOVA – The Canova Gang got the upperhand on the Cardinals and won 14-3.

Austin King and Austin Koenig both had two singles with others by Noel Burgos, Dallas Schneiderman, Bret Severtson and Grant Hieb each scattered out singles.
The Cardinals used three pitchers all throwing two innings each. Burggraff took the loss walking seven, giving up two hits and five runs. Schneiderman allowed six Canova hits, seven runs and struck out two. Tim Huber gave up four hits and two runs.
This week, the Cardinals will head to Salem Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. contest and then host a 5 p.m. game Sunday against Dells PBR on Cardinal Field in Flandreau City Park.
