Boys first, girls second at State B Track & Field

SIOUX FALLS – The Colman-Egan Hawks put on a show at the South Dakota High School Activities Association’s Class B Track and Field Meet held Thursday through Saturday at Howard Wood Field.
The won the title and the girls finished runner-up and collectively, they won the Combined Team Title.
The Hawk boys track and field team brought home the 2025 Class B championship tusing three golds, a silver and three bronze medal placings. Leading the effort were the senior boys of Sutton Bunde, Chris Lee, Jack Mousel, Jase Mousel and Jackson Zwart, all medal winners.
It came down to the last event for the team title to be decided. Philip had a foursome in the 4x400 meter relay but didn’t place high enough to catch the Hawks. Colman-Egan finished with 78 points and the Scotties’ 74.5.
Zwart and the Mousel brothers each brought home four medals and Chris Lee gathered three gold medals for his sprinting, all in their final prep track meet.
Zwart finished second in the 300 meter hurdles and third in the 110 meter hurdles and also brought back a fourth in the long jump and fifth in triple jump.
Jase Mousel took third in the 400 meter dash and triple jump and won gold as part of two relays and his brother Jack was third in the 200 (school record time) and sixth in the high jump and was also on the two winning relays.
Lee sprinted to gold in the 100 meter dash and, along with his younger brother Mikano, raced to gold in two relays.
Junior Hayden Pearson won a gold medal as part of the 4x100 relay and Sutton Bunde came in eighth in the 800 meter run.
In the 4x200 meter relay prelims, the brothers set a new Class B Meet record with their time of 1:29.91. They weren’t far off that time in the finals as they won the gold with a 1:29.95.
Colman-Egan’s 4x800 meter relay team just missed the medals. Their time of 8:38.87 was just .17 behind the eighth place team.
The Hawk girls couldn’t catch the team leader Bennett County but nudged ahead of Burke, 45.5 points 45, to earn runner-up honors.
The girls team finished with six medal finishes and they took first in two relays and second in another.
They also earned a third, fourth and seventh place to total their scoring effort.
Crystal Silva-Dominguez and Jolie Flatten led the Hawks’ medal contention with four each. Brynlee Landis and Finley Luze both earned three medals.
The Hawks took gold in the 4x200 and 4x400 using the same team of Silva-Dominguez, Luze, Landis and Flatten
Their sprint medley team of Silva-Dominguez, Avery Baumberger, Flatten and Landis brought home silver and Flatten won the bronze in the 400 meter dash.
Also in the field events, Quinn Meyer took fourth in the high jump and Anna Zwart was seventh in the shot put.
