Boys drop two over week

The Hawk boys basketball team lost two games over last week and now post a season record of 4-9.
Chester 53, CE 51
CHESTER – Chester outscored the Hawks in the final quarter to take a 53-51 win over Colman-Egan.
The Hawks fell to 4-7 with the loss. The two teams each scored 17 points in the first quarter and the Flyers then led 29-28 at the half. Colman-Egan was able to gain a 41-39 lead at the end of the third but then was outscored 14-10 in the final quarter and suffered their seventh loss.
Jase Mousel led the Hawks with 21 points. Jackson Zwart had 11 points, five assists and nine rebounds.
Adding nine points, all from beyond the arc was Tyce Ryan netting three shots. Jack Mousel led in rebounding with 10 and added eight points.
The Hawks shot 40 percent as a team and 50 percent from the free throw line.
The Hawks outrebounded the Flyers 32-18, but committed five more turnovers, 13 to the Flyers’ eight.
Jovi Wolf had 16 points to lead Chester. Layke Wold had 15 points.
Estelline/Hendricks 77, CE 61
ESTELLINE – Estelline/Hendricks used a big third quarter to pull away from Colman-Egan for a 77-61 victory on Thursday night.
Colman-Egan led 15-13 at the end of the first quarter and took a 34-31 lead into halftime thanks to the hot hand of Jase Mousel. He scored 22 points in the first half alone. But the Redhawks used a 28-15 advantage in the third quarter to take control of the game and out-scored the Hawks 18-12 in the fourth quarter to put the game away.
Jase Mousel had a game-high 32 points (24 from beyond the arc) with five rebounds and an assist while Jackson Zwart had 16 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Wyat James had 23 points, two rebounds, two steals, two assists and a block for the Redhawks while Braxton Pravecek scored 18 points with six rebounds, three assists and two steals and Kyler Carlson had 16 points, three rebounds, three assists and a steal in the win.
Ethan Axtell had eight points off the bench and Mattix Hausman had six points, nine rebounds, five assists and two steals in the win.
Estelline-Hendricks shot 49 percent in the game including 11-for-24 (45.8%) on 3-pointers. The Redhawks made 12-of-20 (60%) free throws, committed 10 turnovers and out-rebounded the Hawks 34-28.
C-E shot 39 percent in the game including 10-of-29 (34.5%) on 3-pointers. The Hawks made 9-of-14 (64.3%) free throws and committed 14 turnovers.
Colman-Egan fell to 4-9 on the season (2-5 in the Dakota Valley Conference) and was to play Baltic on Monday, Wilmot on Tuesday and Deubrook on Friday.
