The Flandreau Blue Teal lost both of their games, falling to the Hartford-Humboldt Gamecocks 12-0 on Thursday and 1-0 to the highly rated Dell Rapids Mudcats on Sunday.

Blue Teal drop two

The Flandreau Blue Teal lost both of their games, falling to the Hartford-Humboldt Gamecocks 12-0 on Thursday and 1-0 to the highly rated Dell Rapids Mudcats on Sunday.
The Blue Teal is 3-6 (2-5 Corn Belt League) on the season and will return to action when they face the Flandreau Cardinals on Friday at 7 p.m. Foul balls at this game are tabbed at $5. Come down and support both local clubs in some amateur baseball action.

Hartford-Humboldt 12, Flandreau 0 (7 Inn.)
HARTFORD – The Gamecocks scored nine times in the first inning to lead their way to a 12-0 win that ended in seven innings via the 10-run rule.
Cam Quigley walked to open the bottom of the first inning before Jonah Rechtenbaugh drove him home with a triple for the first run of the game. Joe Hanisch followed up with an RBI single and three batters later, Adam Hentges drove in a pair of runs with a single to make it a 4-0 lead.

Ryan Healy drove in a run with a single and Chad Morrison drove in a run with a double to make it 6-0. Nate Masloski drove in two runs with a double and Rechtenbaugh drove in his second run of the game to give the Gamecocks a 9-0 lead at the end of the first inning.
Hartford-Humbolt added a run on a Quigley sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third inning and two runs on a Hentges walk and Loren Jacobson’s hit by pitch in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Kolby Peters started for the Blue Teal allowing 10 earned runs on 11 hits and five walks with three strikeouts over five innings. Gage Sharping finished the game allowing two earned runs on a hit and three walks with a pair of strikeouts in the sixth inning.
Sharping was 1-for-2 with a walk and two stolen bases. Sam Gassman went 1-for-3 with a stolen base. Mason Riley went 1-for-2 with a walk and Paul McGlone went 1-for-3.

Dell Rapids 1, Flandreau 0

DELL RAPIDS – The second game for the Blue Teal was a pitching duel that ended with the Mudcats earning a 1-0 victory on Sunday night.
Ethan Johnson started for Flandreau and threw eight strong innings, allowing an unearned run on six hits and five walks with five strikeouts. But the Mudcats’ Nalton Lehnen was even better striking out 17 batters over nine shutout innings.
With both pitchers dueling, the deciding play came in the bottom of the seventh when Ty Hoglund broke the scoreless tie by stealing home to keep the Mudcats’ season record perfect at 7-0 in the Corn Belt League.
For the Blue Teal, Riley went 2-for-3 with a double. Sharping went 1-for-3 with a triple. Peters and McGlone each went 1-for-3.
