Petitions to serve on local school boards in the Colman-Egan and Flandreau school districts as well as council from Colman City, Egan City, Trent Town and Ward Town will be available starting this Friday, January 31.
In the Colman-Egan School District, one seat is up for election this year, currently held by Melissa Wright.
In the Flandreau School District, three seats are on the ballot. The three-year terms currently held by Kari Burggraff and Dustin Headrick are up for election, along with Brian Johnson’s seat, which will be for a two-year term.
In Colman City, the seats of Mike Uhing in Ward I, Cody Fritz in Ward II and Roger Broghammer in Ward III are all set to open. All positions are two-year terms.

Egan City will have two open seats. Mike Hein as Trustee 1 and Cody Chamblin as Trustee 2. Both are three-year positions.
The seat currently held by Richard Nord is open in Trent Town and is a three-year term.
In Ward, Scott Handberg’s three-year seat will be open.
Flandreau holds elections every fourth year.
All entities will hold elections on April 8. Petitions for signatures may be obtained at the desired business office of both schools or from the finance officer at the respective city, during normal business hours.
Signed petitions must be submitted to the business manager at each district’s school or to the finance officer by Feb. 28. Petitions require a minimum of 20 valid signatures and must be signed under oath in the presence of a state notary public before submission.
Eligible candidates must be at least 18 years old, residents of South Dakota and must be a registered voter residing within the school district or city where you seek election.
