The Colman Lutheran Church has set up a 24-hour community pantry, offering non-perishable items for anyone to drop off or take as needed. The idea came from a church council retreat, where members were looking for ways to live out their mission statement and address local needs. While the Moody County Breadbasket is a pantry for the entire county, it’s a bit far for some, the council felt. The new pantry is located right in Colman in the entryway to City Hall, offering locals a more convenient option. With the rising cost of living and groceries, the hope is that families and individuals will find it useful and contribute when they can. The pantry is well-stocked, but the church encourages the community to keep it going by donating non-expired, non-perishable items.
