Witte, Wiese, Reed place in Brandon event

BRANDON – Flandreau’s Hunter Witte (106 pounds) placed fourth, Chase Reed (220) was seventh and Brayden Wiese (113) finished eighth at the Dan Pansch/Jesse James Invitational on Saturday.
Witte pinned Dell Rapids’ John Mortrude in 1:39 in the first round and O’Gorman’s Keenan Sheridan in 31 seconds in the quarterfinals. After getting pinned by Huron’s Moses Gross in 3:09 in the semifinals he bounced back with a 3-1 defeat of Dell Rapids’ Mason Stubbe.
West Central’s Connor Siemonsma won by fall in 2:30 versus Witte in the third-place bout.
Reed stuck Garretson’s Jaden Richter in 5:19 to open the day but was pinned in 54 seconds by Canton’s Marshall Baldwin in the quarters. Reed picked up a 3-2 decision over Chamberlain’s Gunnar Ristau but fell in 2:24 against Huron’s Tristan Cardona.

Reed dropped Richter 3-0 in the seventh-place match.
Wiese received a first-round bye and was then pinned in 1 minute by Tea Area’s Wyatt Stuntebeck. Wiese won his next match via forfeit and was pinned in 29 seconds versus Garretson’s Jayse Miller.
Wiese dropped a 1-0 decision to Chamberlain’s Quinn Long in the seventh-place matchup.
Tathan Headrick (145) and Kolby Peters (170) both went 1-2 with a win by fall.
JV tourney
MADISON– The rest of the Flier team headed to Madison for a JV tournament.
At 120 pounds, Karter Headrick, and at 285, Sergio Moralas, both took third and Owen Peters was fourth at 160. Dylan Christenson (92), Lars Dailey (132), Caleb Pitsenberger (138), Gary Moose (145) and Tanner Christenson (152) did not place. No other stats were made available.
