Wind storm takes a swath through Moody County

A storm that began late Tuesday and continued overnight into Wednesday led to a number of fallen trees, branches and power outages in Colman.

The few outages affected a good portion of people in town, including Bill Hay, who lives along Loban Street.

Hay said he was out of electricity from around 11:30 Tuesday night until about 1 p.m. Wednesday, when most of the power was restored in town.

Max wind speeds during the storm blew above 40 mph, heavily affecting Dell Rapids and Ward as well.

Despite the trees and branches that had fallen, Hay said as long as no one got hurt, everything else will be okay.

The city of Colman let residents know they would do a citywide cleanup Tuesday morning, having people pile any fallen trees and branches along the side of the road for pick up.
