DE SMET – The Colman-Egan girls and Elkton boys won their respective divisions at the Dakota Valley Conference meet held Thursday in De Smet.
The Hawks’ scored 164 points to win the girls’ division. Deubrook Area finished second with 135 points, followed by Arlington (82.5), Dell Rapids St. Mary (72), and Estelline/Hendricks (66.5) rounding out the top five.
Elkton-Lake Benton finished seventh, Oldham-Ramona/Rutland ninth, and Lake Preston 10th.
On the boys’ side the Elks scored 150 points to nip Deubrook Area who finished with 145 points.
De Smet was third with 76 points, followed by Colman-Egan (73.5) in fourth and Castlewood (66) in fifth.
Estelline/Hendricks was sixth, Arlington finished eighth, Oldham-Ramona/Rutland ninth, and Lake Preston 10th.
Girls
The Hawks’ girls won 11 events in coming away with the team title.
Mackenzie Hemmer won three events and placed second in a fourth. Hemmer won the 100 meter hurdles (16.67 seconds), 300 meter hurdles (49.56 seconds), and the triple jump (35 feet, 7.50 inches), and took second in the long jump (15 feet, 5.25 inches).
Daniela Lee finished first in two events, the 100 meter dash (12.96 seconds) and 200 meter dash (25.89 seconds).
Reese Luze also placed first in a pair of events, the 400 meter dash (59.85 seconds) and 800 meter run (2:36.35).
Four Hawks’ relay teams scored first place finishes as they won the 4x100 meter relay (Presley Luze, Lanie Mousel, Brynlee Landis, Lee, 53.56 seconds), 4x200 meter relay (Reese Luze, Mousel, Landis, Lee, 1:50.33), 1600 meter sprint medley (Elaina Rhode, Hailey Larson, Presley Luze, Landis, 3:36.69), and 4x400 meter relay (Presley Luze, Rhode, Landis, Reese Luze, 4:18.50).
Hailey Larson finished second in the triple jump with a result of 33 feet, two inches, and third in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 1.75 inches.
Boys
The Hawks had three second place finishes in boys’ events.
Austin Gullickson picked up the lone individual second place finish for Colman-Egan with a 19.53 second time in the 110 hurdles.
The Hawks’ 4x100 meter relay team of Christopher Lee, Jonny Keyes, Logan Voelker, and Ben Zwart ran in 46.38 seconds, while Jackson Wright took the place of Lee in the 1600 sprint medley which took second in a time of 3:58.85.
