Posted

The Moody County Wholeness Center is holding a Pancake Feed at the William Janklow Community Center on Sunday, August 29th from 7:30 – 11:30 AM. The Wholeness Center is asking for a free will donation and all proceeds will go towards the building of their new shelter.
At the Pancake Feed, the Wholeness Center will also be selling tickets for their 50/50 raffle. They are selling one ticket for $5 and five tickets for $20. You must be 18 years or older to participate. The winner will be announced on September 3rd. If you can’t make it to the Pancake Feed, you can also purchase tickets from First National Bank, Tractor Supply Co., and El Rinconsito (all in Flandreau), or the Wholeness Center’s website at wholenesscentersd.weebly.com.
The Wholeness Center’s mission is to provide safety and services to victims and survivors who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and stalking in Moody County. It is the Wholeness Center’s goal to help these individuals to make decisions about their lives in a supportive, non-judgmental, and empowering atmosphere. As an organization, the Wholeness Center also promotes the concepts of non-violence and equality as viable alternatives to aggression, domination, and control through education, advocacy, and social action.
Several types of services are available at the Wholeness Center for victims and survivors.
These services include but are not limited to:

• Immediate 24-hour shelter (can hold a total of 14 guests and 4 infants) and 24-hour crisis hotline (605-997-5594);
• Crisis counseling and intervention;
• Legal advocacy: assistance in obtaining protection/stalking orders and courtroom advocacy;
• Medical advocacy;
• Referral services: assistance in accessing community resources, i.e., housing, employment, financial needs;
•  Information packets; and
• Limited financial assistance.
The Wholeness Center also can provide presentations and/or resources to community organizations about the Wholeness Center and their services. They have resources in both Spanish and English (pamphlets, slips, and bookmarks) that would be available for organizations to give away to anyone who would need them.
The Wholeness Center is open from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday – Friday. If you have any questions about either fundraiser, the Wholeness Center’s services, or presentations and resources, you can reach them at their office line at 605-997-3535.
