Wacipi sees great weather, beautiful dancers

Dancers in colorful regalia worked their way around the circle representing different dances, including the ribbon dance and the jingle dance, at the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe’s Wacipi at the powwow grounds last weekend. People of all ages joined in on Saturday, when these photos were taken, while near perfect weather greeted the day.
Each day of the three-day event, the wacipi has a flag raising and a grand entry.
The local powwow is noncompetitive and is intended for the participation of hundreds of dancers. Those who attended the powwow also ate meals and relaxed around the ring.
