Two place at Brandon


BRANDON – Flandreau’s Tanner Christenson and Caleb Dietrich both placed eighth at the Dan Pansch/Jesse James Invitational on Saturday.
At 120 pounds, Christenson received a first-round bye but got pinned by Canton’s Braxton Trowbridge in the quarterfinals. He beat Garretson’s Tayson Swatek 8-2 and then lost by fall in 2:04 to Huron’s Cole Ochsner.
Chamberlain’s Dominic Santiago pinned Christenson in 4:50 in the seventh-place bout.
At 132, Dietrich was pinned in 1:21 by Harrisburg’s Max Johnson in the first round. The Flier then pinned Tea Area’s Devin Pence in 4:07 and won by medical forfeit over Vermillion’s Ryne Whisler. He dropped a 7-4 decision to Tri-Valley’s Carson Norgaard after that.
Sioux Falls Roosevelt’s Dan Momotic defeated Dietrich 9-4 in the seventh-place matchup.
Hunter Witte (113 pounds) and Braden Peters (285) both went 1-2.
